In the city of Tiruchirappalli, there is a neighbourhood known as the Tiruchirappalli Cantonment, formerly known as Trichinopoly Cantonment. It began in the 18th century as a cantonment for the Madras Regiment. This is where the majority of Tiruchirappalli’s hotels, restaurants, main tourist office, and post office are located. Furthermore situated within the cantonment area is the Tiruchirappalli Junction.
