Sri Uthamar Kovil is a prominent Hindu temple dedicated to the Trimurtis of Hinduism – Lord Vishnu, the Preserver of the Universe, Lord Shiva, the Destroyer of the Universe, and Lord Brahma, the Creator of the Universe. It is located on the outskirts of Tiruchirappalli city. Uthamar Kovil is one of the 108 Divya Desams, located 11.2 kilometres from Trichy’s city centre and 3.9 kilometres from Srirangam’s temple town (the 108 Vishnu temples that are named in the compositions of the Tamil Azhwars). Kathambanur was the old name for Uthamar Kovil. According to legend, Lord Vishnu once sought to investigate Lord Brahma’s adoration.
