Dr. G. Viswanathan MBBS, the GVN Hospital’s founder, began his medical practice on Trichy’s Big Bazar Street in 1939. In 1940, he opened a free dispensary at his Srirangam residence, as well as a ten-bed nursing home on Trichy’s Big Bazar Street. Dr. Viswanathan was a simple man who rode his horse everywhere. He gave both a free and a fee-based consultation.
